The position:  The Territory Sales manager will hold the overall responsibility for the selling of the diabetes portfolio in line with the UK Sales and marketing strategy. This is a 12-month maternity cover contract.

Basic salary: to £45,000

The role:

This is a strategic account development role identifying and liaising with key decision makers and influencers. The role requires a passionate and creative individual that can identify opportunities and has the commercial awareness to develop advocacy and exceptional partnerships. This role also requires exceptional organisational skills, project management and customer service together with these entrepreneurial qualities; product launches, business planning and true key account development. The TM will be required to work closely with the Healthcare Clinical Professional and District Sales Manager to ensure successful business growth in the territory. 

The main responsibilities include: 

  • Generating, maintaining and expanding relationships at all levels in order to identify and develop business opportunities whilst actively driving product growth and market share of the diabetes business.
  • Working on strategy development as well as taking the ideas through to execution. 
  • Develop strategic business plans for the territory and apply professional selling skills to execute and exceed sales targets.
  • Analyse market and business metrics.
  • Develop innovative solutions and services to maximize hospital tender and negotiation success rate.
  • Assist in evaluating customer adoption of current materials and programs to drive further customer adoption.
  • Understand competitor landscape, NHS structure and policies, current practice, challenges and resulting business opportunities for all diabetes product lines; specifically by addressing specific customer segments’ needs 
  • Educate customers on products, concepts and industry trends to increase product usage 
  • Administration: keeping detailed records of all market intelligence, customer needs and correspondence, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, and communication.

Your experience:

Ideally, you will have commercial experience in nutrition or diabetes, in devices or pharmaceuticals and 3 years of demonstrable account management/ sales success.  Junior candidates looking to get into the industry will also be considered if you have a Bachelor and Masters degree. You must have exceptional verbal/ written communication skills in order to liaise with internal and external partners within a timely manner. Candidates coming from a clinical background will also be considered, for example a Dietician, Nutritionist or a Nurse. Experienced candidates for this role will need to demonstrable success in the development and management of key account working.  You will also need to be able to demonstrate your experience in managing high levels of complexity and working within an extremely competitive market place. You need to be good at prioritizing, strategizing, be capable of working within a team and show autonomy.
