Business Development Manager - Podiatry

Job Description

The Company:  The UK's leading supplier of foot health products, serving the professional podiatrist for over 30 years. They strive to provide health professionals with the widest choice of medical consumables and equipment, with constructive advice, support and innovation. 

They are the UK representative and distributor for a leading manufacturer of off the shelf orthotics. The company is also the exclusive UK distributor for a number of market leading brands. In addition, the company also has as an extensive range of own branded podiatry products.

The Position: This role is for someone keen to progress into a medical sales role covering Scotland, Ireland and the North of England.

Basic salary: £27,000

Bonus: £12,000 - £13,000 on target

Area working: Scotland, Ireland and Northern England down to Lancaster/Middlesbrough

Products: Podiatry consumables and equipment - large portfolio

The role:

The primary purpose of this role is to manage and develop the territory and selling the products to customers, typically Podiatrist and other medical practitioners, Heads of Departments, Team Leads and Purchasing. You will be maintaining and developing those customer relationships to improve sales value per customer and identify and bring on new customers in both Private and NHS accounts. The role also includes carrying out product demonstrations and advising on suitable additions to the product range. You will assist in creating and enhancing product presentations to ensure clinical application is effectively demonstrated to customers. You will attend trade meetings, establish relationships with clinical schools on your territory, ensuring graduating students are aware of the products and service offerings. 

Travel will be required as you are expected to average four days a week visiting customers and one day a week working from home. Travel will primarily be UK based, but on occasion you may be requested to travel outside the UK as part of the role.

Your experience:

You will have a science or business related degree along with experience in a medical-related business, ideally in customer facing sales role. You should be a confident communicator, and be comfortable presenting, delivering training and demonstrating products to individuals and large audiences. 

You need to be driven, focused, aware, a relationship builder, independent, self-motivated, self-directed, and outgoing in support of the business unit's growth plans and targets. There is a great opportunity for this individual to grow outside of this role as the business gains momentum, so they are looking for someone with the desire to work into a bigger role. Any knowledge of medical products is a distinct advantage.
