Location: UK, ideally commutable to office in Leicester

Product: Healthcare Diagnostic consumables - blood collection, safety lancets, blood gas collection systems, urine collection and, transport systems for diagnostic samples

  • The company is looking to double its UK turnover in the next 10 years, focusing on growing its market share in its key product lines. The new manager will play a critical role in this growth strategy.

What you’ll be doing:

The company is in the process of finding a new Sales Manager as the current one is retiring after 39 years. This hire is crucial as the company is in a transitional phase, aiming to modernise and enhance its competitiveness. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and motivating a team of nine account managers, driving sales growth, and fostering a positive, competitive, and collaborative team culture.

The Managing Director is very involved with the sales team and expects the new Sales Manager to be hands-on, providing strategic leadership, coaching, and mentorship. The candidate should lead by example and offer constructive feedback to help develop the account managers.

A key part of the role will be to support the company’s ambitious goal of doubling its UK turnover in the next decade by increasing market share in key product lines. The new Sales Manager will be instrumental in achieving this target.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Sales and Marketing strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies and maximise customer satisfaction
  • Oversee performance against objectives and drive market position improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the diagnostics industry, including market trends, competitor analysis, and customer needs.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a diverse team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and high performance.
  • Prepare and present sales forecasts, reports, and performance reviews to senior management
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, attend relevant conferences, and participate in networking events to build industry knowledge and expand professional network.

Here’s what you need:

The role requires a candidate with the following key experience and skills:

  • Highly motivated and keen to lead by example, solution-oriented, able to think outside the box, ambitious, versatile, inspirational, and approachable.
  • 10+ years of sales experience, with 5+ years in a management/leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing a team of account managers.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to mentor and coach team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with the team and across the organisation.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to help drive the company's growth and development.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and work closely with the sales team, not just manage from behind a desk.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and drive performance improvements Experience with onboarding and training new hires.
  • Understanding of the medical device market and the company's products and customers.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the company's evolving needs and priorities.

Basic Salary:  £65,000 - £75,000 + bonus + car +  pension + healthcare
