Building Deltex Medical’s UK Clinical Education Team
Deltex Medical needed to rebuild its UK clinical education team with people who could explain complex medical technology, build credible relationships with healthcare professionals and work independently in a changing business.
Through our Committed Search service, we helped Deltex appoint three clinical education professionals, giving its leadership team confidence in both the recruitment decisions and the people joining the business.

About Deltex Medical
Deltex Medical is a UK-based medical technology company specialising in haemodynamic monitoring for surgery and critical care. Its technology provides real-time information about a patient’s circulation, helping clinicians assess blood flow and guide fluid management.
Working with anaesthetists and critical care specialists, Deltex combines its monitoring technology with clinical education and training to support its use in practice.

The challenge: rebuilding a specialist team
Following changes in ownership and leadership, Deltex Medical was rebuilding its UK clinical education capability. The team had previously been significantly reduced as the business placed greater emphasis on international operations and a sales-led approach.
The new leadership wanted to build a clinically knowledgeable team that could support specialist healthcare professionals and strengthen Deltex’s presence in the UK. Its technology was used in complex, niche clinical situations, so recruits needed the expertise and credibility to educate healthcare professionals, alongside the initiative and flexibility to work independently in a smaller, evolving organisation.
Having experienced the consequences of an unsuccessful appointment, the leadership team wanted a thorough assessment process that would give them confidence in each person’s clinical credentials, capability and fit with the business.
Why Deltex chose Committed Search
Deltex approached Advance Recruitment following a recommendation from a senior colleague. The leadership team valued our specialist knowledge of the MedTech market, although paying an upfront recruitment commitment initially prompted some understandable questions about the investment.
Karen McCurdy spent time with several members of the leadership team to understand the roles, their different perspectives and the company’s plans. She also provided practical advice on salary expectations, explaining where the proposed package could make attracting suitable candidates difficult.
These conversations helped Deltex assess what it would take to recruit successfully and gave us a clear understanding of how to present the opportunities and responsibilities of joining a smaller, ambitious business. For the leadership team, that early advice and attention to detail established trust before the search began.
The recruitment process
Giving the leadership team time back
With senior leaders managing a substantial business transformation, recruitment needed to make good use of their time. We handled initial candidate screening and provided concise written summaries alongside CVs, with psychometric profiles completed for all longlisted candidates. This helped the team prepare for interviews and focus on people whose suitability had already been explored.
Recognising potential beyond the CV
Our assessment also helped Deltex consider people they might otherwise have rejected on paper. By discussing each candidate’s experience, strengths and suitability for the business, we gave the leadership team reasons to look beyond their initial impression of a CV. Some of those candidates went on to impress at interview and were appointed.
Managing the details
We coordinated interviews, kept candidates informed and handled feedback throughout the process, including communicating unsuccessful decisions. This reduced the administration for Deltex’s leadership team, leaving them free to concentrate on interviews and appointment decisions.
Continuing until the right people were found
When the initial search for a South East position didn’t produce a suitable appointment, we returned to the market. A further round brought forward a stronger selection, and Deltex appointed two people in the South East.
For the client, this was an important demonstration of Committed Search in practice. They could hold out for people they wanted to employ, with the reassurance that we would continue working with them to find the right fit.
The outcome: a team Deltex can depend on
Deltex appointed three clinical education professionals, with all appointments concluded within 63 days of the briefing. The value of those appointments has continued beyond the recruitment process, with the client describing the clinical education team as one of the strongest and most independently functioning parts of the business.
Once they had completed their induction and built their confidence, team members took responsibility for their work without needing constant oversight. For a leadership team managing substantial change, knowing that clinical education was in capable hands brought considerable peace of mind.
The new recruits also contributed beyond their original responsibilities, from developing professional documentation and supporting digital projects to building clinical relationships and suggesting marketing activities. Alongside the clinical expertise Deltex needed, they brought additional capabilities that the business hadn’t originally anticipated.
The client’s view
"I appreciate that anybody would be slightly nervous about paying some money upfront. You don't know what you're getting, but I wouldn't hesitate at all"
"If we want to add to our team, we would not go anywhere else"
