Previous knowledge required

You will ideally have a good understanding of anatomy and biology and may even have some experience within an operating theatre as you may need to understand what occurs during the various surgical procedures for which the products you sell will be used. Your role will be to teach the doctors, nurses, surgeons and technicians how to use your company’s healthcare products and to educate them about the benefits of the various medical devices that you sell.

Sales Experience Required

If you do not have any prior experience in the industry, you should have some background in another type of sales. Make sure you can demonstrate your skills through the following means:

Most medical companies will offer training to new sales representatives, but they need to feel confident that the person they hire can handle both the intellectual challenge of learning a vast amount about medicine, anatomy and the healthcare profession as well as be a confident and outgoing sales person.
