About the Role

Location: Ideally based in the South West or South Wales. The territory covers the South West, South Wales and West Midlands up to Birmingham, plus Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey.

Products: You’ll sell a focused portfolio of medical devices across ambulance, acute and community care settings:

  • Falls recovery equipment: An established lifting chair that helps people recover safely from the floor following a fall. Customers include ambulance services, care home groups, occupational therapists and NHS manual handling teams.

  • Non-contact thermometers: A newly introduced range listed on NHS Supply Chain and HCA frameworks, with opportunities across acute wards, paediatrics, oncology and critical care. Key contacts include clinical leads, infection control teams, clinical engineering and procurement.

The role combines developing an established customer base for falls recovery equipment with winning new business for the temperature monitoring range.

The company

Our client is an established medical device distributor working with leading healthcare manufacturers across the UK and Ireland. Combining specialist sales expertise with clinical education and technical support, the business helps healthcare professionals introduce and use technologies that improve patient care.

You’ll join its ambulance and post-acute care division, supplying practical solutions to NHS Trusts, ambulance services, care homes and community healthcare teams. With an established customer base and a newly launched product range, this is an opportunity to build on existing relationships while developing new business within a close, supportive team.

Why you should join

You’ll take responsibility for a growing territory with an established customer base and a newly launched product range. This gives you the opportunity to develop existing accounts while building new business across hospitals, ambulance services and care providers.

The products have a practical impact on patient care, helping people recover safely after falls and supporting clinical teams with temperature monitoring. You’ll join a close, supportive team with the independence to plan your territory and take ownership of its growth.

Responsibilities

  • Grow sales, revenue and market share across the territory, achieving agreed sales and margin targets.
  • Develop existing accounts for an established falls recovery product and win new customers for a recently launched non-contact thermometer.
  • Build relationships with ambulance services, NHS Trusts, care home groups and community healthcare providers.
  • Engage clinical and commercial decision-makers, including procurement, infection prevention and control, manual handling teams, occupational therapists, paramedics and clinical engineering departments.
  • Deliver practical product demonstrations, customer training and assessments, including in patients’ homes where required.
  • Support product evaluations and work with customers through procurement and approval processes.
  • Maintain a territory business plan, manage your pipeline and keep customer records and sales forecasts up to date.
  • Attend exhibitions, workshops, training and supplier meetings, including occasional overseas travel and weekend commitments.

Person requirements

You’ll be a self-motivated sales professional who enjoys finding opportunities, opening doors and converting interest into business. You’ll be comfortable managing a broad territory independently, while contributing to a supportive team.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience selling medical devices or consumables into NHS Trusts or community services, with an understanding of NHS procurement, clinical evaluations and purchasing approvals. Driven candidates with relevant transferable sales experience will also be considered.

You’ll need:

  • Strong relationship-building, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • The drive to win new business alongside the discipline to develop existing accounts.
  • A warm, sensitive approach when working with vulnerable patients and their families.
  • The ability to transport equipment and carry out practical product demonstrations safely.
  • Good organisation, IT skills and a full driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the territory and undertake the required DBS checks.

Experience selling into ambulance services or care homes would be an advantage, as would knowledge of NHS Wales procurement and health boards. A clinical background in nursing, paramedicine or occupational therapy would also be valuable.

Basic salary: £35,000 to £46,000 per annum.

Bonus: £24,000 per annum, paid quarterly, combining a target-based bonus with uncapped commission, currently 2% on sales.

Company car: Tesla.

You’ll also receive:

  • 25 days’ annual leave, increasing with service after five years to a maximum of 30 days.

  • 5% employer pension contribution.

  • Life assurance worth four times your annual salary.

  • Permanent health insurance to support you if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury.

  • Enhanced family leave and sick pay.

  • Confidential 24/7 employee assistance programme for you and your household, plus access to trained Mental Health First Aiders.

  • Funded eye tests, a contribution towards eyewear and a Cycle to Work scheme.

  • Volunteer days, charity sponsorship support, employee events and recognition awards.

  • Access to financial advice, retirement planning support and an employee savings scheme.

  • £5/day lunch allowance
