Job Description

The Position:  

  • To provide field service engineering support for the routine servicing, repair and installation of all products within the company 
  • To ensure all equipment is maintained and installed to client standards and that all activities are documented using the relevant company  standard documentation.
  • To provide technical support to equipment stakeholders, both physically attending site and in the form of telephone support. Travel is an integral part of the role.
  • To monitor systems and failures to ensure common faults are reported to the relevant Product Specialist and the Product Support Manager to enable a continual improvement in the performance of company products.
  • At least 65% of breakdown calls should be resolved without external (Factory/ Head Office) technical support. Support from Product Specialists will be available as necessary.

Basic salary: c£3,000 - £38,000

Annual bonus and car.

Area Working: Based within an hour of Southampton. 90% of the time will be based there, with the odd trip to the office (near Stroud), however this is classified as a UK wide position as on occasion you'll be asked to help out colleague in other areas of the UK on large installations. 

Products: X-Ray equipment

Your experience:

  • Ideally you will ahve a HND/HNC in electronics or equivalent c3 years’ field service experience or 2 years’ X-ray engineering experience. However candidates with other Medical Physics exerience, technical field service or electronic engineering backgorunds will also be considered.
  • In addition you should be articulate, professional, well-presented and with good customer facing skills.
  • Must be able to prepare reports and other documentation to a very high level and be methodical and accurate

The role:

Assist Product Support Manager in the following

  • Perform regular fault analysis on equipment and highlight results to service management and Product Specialists.
  • Generally monitor & report on product problems in the field.
  • Rectify all outstanding issues.


  • Log all equipment service firmware and software on service reports.
  • Complete all service procedure forms daily.
  • Ensure all modification records are logged.
  • Complete timesheets on a weekly basis.
  • Complete all installation procedure (SD16) forms.
  • Ensure all spare parts are returned to the office promptly.


  • Attend all training courses on equipment as required by company training plan. Travel both within the UK and internationally may be required for training courses.
  • Assist with other engineer training.


  • Work with Technical Support Department management team to promote the company, specifically the Technical Support Department.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times with both internal and external customers.
  • Report poor / exceptional performance to Service Management team as deemed appropriate.

Additional activities

  • Perform engineering and administrative tasks as may reasonably be required for the performance of the role of X-ray Engineer both at customer sites and at client premises.
