The position: We are looking for a Specialist Nurse with bowel care experience to work in partnership with this busy NHS bowel care department.

For this role, you will provide an ethical and professional a Bowel Nurse Service to patients and provide specialist bowel clinic reviews for patients in Kings College Hospital London. In addition to this, you will deliver educational support to fellow health care professionals within the hospital. You will be responsible for providing an expert level of professional and clinical care and offering advice and support to patients, families and healthcare professionals for bowel related problems. The position also includes providing a telephone helpline facility for patients. You will instigate working practices to ensure collaboration between members of the acute/community health care teams, striving for continuity, cohesion and consistency in care. Generating and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with all appropriate health care professional’s e.g. Gastroenterologists, Specialist Nurses, GP’s, Community Nurses, Patient Associations etc. is an important part of the role. You will also be required to undertake service audit/evaluation activities in order to monitor standards, maintain service provision and identify opportunities for improvement. Sometimes you will participate in research activities and initiate opportunities to evaluate the experience of patients with bowel problems who are given Transanal Irrigation through the clinic.
You will be a Registered General Nurse with at least 5 years nursing experience, preferably having worked within the bowel speciality. You should have teaching experience and be able to work in Partnership with this busy NHS stoma care department. Having clinical expertise is essential, but experience within the commercial nurse sector would be an advantage.
